Sawyer’s began over 20 years ago as a tree service company, we expanded over the years and have a second division of Landscaping. This division includes Landscape Management, Special Projects, and Snow & Ice Management Services.

Our Trees Division offers cutting edge tree services at competitive prices for both commercial and residential properties. Our certified arborists provide inspections and professional recommendations; then proceed with tree removal, pruning, planting, stump removal, mulch delivery and installation, and deep root fertilization services.

Our Landscaping Division offers a 3-pronged approach for your residential and commercial real estate; Snow + Ice Management Services we give devoted attention to fulfilling your snow clearing, snow haul¬ing, and parking lot/sidewalk de-icing needs. Afterwards, Parking Lot Maintenance with sweeping, pot-hole repair and line/symbol painting. Lastly, Landscape Maintenance Services we can maintain lawns, irrigation, weed-control and fertilize. We have designers to plan enhancements for your area including irrigation, & hydro-seeding.

We have you covered for every season, twelve months a year a customized outdoor space management with less headaches for you.

Norm is co-owner and founder of Sawyer’s. He is an arborist by trade. Over the past 20+ years in the industry, Norm has been involved in the coaching and leadership of many of the company’s key people. Norm has held board positions with the Saskatoon Homebuilders Association, and Canadian Nursery Landscape Association (CNLA). Norm has an educational background from the University of Alberta in Kinesiology. He is a huge advocate for education and training and shares his knowledge and skills in the arboriculture and horticulture areas, while promoting quality of performance on Sawyer’s work sites.

Karen Altrogge:

Position: Co-Owner – Human Resources

Karen has been involved with Sawyer’s in a Human Resources aspect as well as Administration, assisting with data entry.  Karen has farm background and leads with a determined work ethic. Karen is the General Manager of the Saskatoon Opera Company, and is involved in other initiatives in the arts community in Saskatoon and Saskatchewan.  She is also involved with the Saskatchewan Arts Alliance.  She is the embodiment of the term “multi-tasker.”

Tony Calverley

Tony is an ISA certified Arborist.  He has 18 years experience in the Arboriculture / Tree Services industry. As an arborist, Tony has trained and mentored many of our current foremen and is always encouraging apprentices. Tony is currently challenging for the Prairie Horticulture Certification. As operations manager, Tony balances the schedules of his work crews in landscape maintenance, landscape construction, and tree services work with the priority needs of Sawyer’s Customers in each division of our company.

Rodger Murphy:

Rodger has been with Sawyer’s for 16 seasons as Sales for our Trees Division.  Rodger meets our clients and estimates their tree pruning and tree removal needs.  Rodger has a 40 year career in sales in various aspects. His customer relations and customer communication is a huge asset in building our business.

Tiara Kopeechuk:

Tiara grew up working in her mother’s garden.  Upon graduating from Hanley Composite School Tiara went to Olds College where she studied Ornamental Horticulture and graduated with a Major in Landscape Management.  Her work experience has been with Lakeshore Garden Centre in Saskatoon.  Tiara then accepted a job in Brandon MB at Alternative Landscaping Ltd.  She worked in the field for two years and then was promoted to Landscape Designer, where she designed for 6 years.  She was further promoted to open the green house operation and was the assistant manager and foreman for the gardening crew.  Tiara moved back to the Saskatoon area  and started with Sawyer’s in 2014.  She is versatile in being a crew member, a foreman, and still does designing and estimating.  Adding to her duties Tiara is Sawyer’s Safety Officer.

Jessica Sinclair:

Jessica began her career by rearranging her mother’s yard and putting a few plants in the ground, this soon became an obsession.  Jessica attended the University of Saskatchewan to receive her Prairie Horticulture Certificate and branched out to graduate with Landscaping & Agriculture degree.  She also took classes from Olds College, the University of Manitoba and Assiniboine College.  Coming from a family of grain farmers Jessica says “Landscaping isn’t easy, but it’s rewarding.  If you love working with your hands and want to take some pride in being a part of something literally growing in front of you, then it’s definitely rewarding”  You can be confident that Jessica is a natural at getting her hands in the dirt, and will work hard until the job done.

Patti Boruch:

Patti graduated from SIAST Kelsey Campus with a diploma in Hotel & Restaurant Administration, she worked in the hotel business for 22 years at the highest level of customer service and holds her Journeyperson of Guest Service Agent.Patti retired from the hotel business and worked at a law firm for 5 years  in various aspects but primarily was an Accounting Technician.In the fall of 2014 Patti arrived at Sawyer’s and has been our administrative, accounting and office manager fulfilling all duties.  She currently is our Social Media liaison with our partner DirectWest.

| 1993 | The seed is planted.

| 1993 to 2005 | Sawyer’s Tree Services grows and staff roster increases 2 – 3 persons per year.

| 1996 | Norm and Karen Altrogge incorporate and Sawyer’s is born.

| 2000 | Sawyer’s officially expands into Residential Landscape Construction in Saskatoon & Area
Landscaping is becoming increasingly in demand, and equipment is purchased to meet demands.

| 2004 | Snow & Ice Management Services is the next natural market to expand into.

| 2005 | Commercial Landscape Construction Services is added to the Sawyer’s divisions.

| 2006 | Parking Lot Sweeping Services and Maintenance of Line painting is added as an added service for our Snow clients after winter.

| 2009 | We bundled our services into a one stop shopping place Landscape Maintenance Services, providing year round property maintenance.

| 2015 | Official expansion into Regina and a strong marketing campaign was launched in Southeast and Southwest of Saskatchewan for Tree Services. As the Market changes Saskatchewan Sawyer’s has diversified it’s business plan and model.

| 2016 | You will see the Commercial and Landscape Construction services diminish and we will be working towards a Service based, customer centric company. We will launch our “Special Projects” division which will include Industrial, commercial and residential.
